Do I need my own website to use PixSmart?
No, you don't. Your online gallery and shop is hosted on our servers at www.pixsmart.com.au. If you don't have a registered domain, just direct your customers to your gallery at yourname.pixsmart.com.au to view and purchase their photos.

Can I host the images at my own registered domain?
Yes you can, for a one time setup fee of AU$99.00. We can even customize the look to exactly match your current website (costs extra, please ask for quote). Alternatively, we host your images at yourname.pixsmart.com.au

What payment methods can my customers choose?
You can set up whatever types of payment methods you wish to accept - direct bank deposit, cheque, credit card, etc. PixSmart includes a secure payment gateway via Paymate which you can enable for credit card processing. Your own merchant arrangements can be included as well.

How many thumbnail images can I display on each gallery event page?
The gallery is programmed to display 3 columns in 4 rows on a page. It's been designed to make it easy for customers to view the thumbnails and move from page to page rather than scrolling down. If you want to change this configuration to more or less columns and rows, we do this for you. Just let us know what you require.

What is an EPU?
EPU stands for Express Photo Uploader. This is application software which forms a separate part of your PixSmart gallery. You download this to your own computer when you pay for a licensed copy of PixSmart Professional® 8. The EPU resides on your computer and is accessed via a PixSmart icon on your desktop. The EPU has a rapid image upload capability similar to using FTP. It allows you to upload large numbers of images to your gallery extremely quickly. It also contains all the features of your control panel administration area which are mirrored in the EPU. Unlike in your control panel where you select images for upload in smaller numbers, you can upload hundreds or even thousands of images all at once using the EPU.

Does PixSmart allow for secure login to individual galleries?
Yes - galleries can be password protected restricting access. You can choose and apply this option when setting up each event in the categories.

How long does it take to upload photos to my gallery?
You have two ways to upload photos - either using the Express Photo Uploader (EPU) or via your control panel. The EPU resides on your desktop; it has a simple click & drag process and takes just minutes to upload hundreds of photos. 500 photos in 10 minutes is possible. As a example of the EPU capability, 3,000 photos, each 5MB - in total 15Gb of images - to create thumbnails, resize & upload to your gallery can take less than 1 hour with 512KB internet connection speed. Or you can use the control panel upload system for individual or small numbers. This is slower than the EPU but it allows you to upload photos to your gallery from any computer and from anywhere. You don't need to use your computer where the EPU resides. It also allows you to replace, change and edit individual photos within events.

Is there a limit to how many photos I can upload and display?
No, there's absolutely no limit. Just choose what hosting plan suits your budget and requirements. There are three plans to choose from - Opal, Pearl and Diamond. You can change plans anytime and you can upload whatever number of images you wish to.

Can I change the way my gallery looks?
Yes, via your control panel, you can change features, appearance and colours. You can activate image navigation just by adding a generic photo to the categories, sub-categories and events as you set these up. If you choose to have us integrate the PixSmart gallery into your website, you can enable a "featured images" display that will select and display specific photos from another portfolio or gallery already contained in your website. You can customise parts of PixSmart to suit what individual look you require.

How long will my uploaded photos remain displayed?
Normally photos remain displayed for 3 months in your gallery, after which time they are automatically removed. If you wish them to remain displayed longer - no problem, just let us know what you require. So, on the Opal hosting plan as an example, with 1200 image uploads per month, you can actually be displaying 3600 photos by the third month and for every month thereafter.

How do I know what images my customers have ordered?
PixSmart generates an email to you the moment a customer places an order through your gallery shopping cart. All the details of the order are included in the email. Including the file path to where the photos are stored on your computer.

How do I make changes to events and images displayed in my gallery?
The same way as when you originally uploaded them. Just log in to your control panel or use the EPU. All administration functions are mirrored in either tool so using the navigation, select what category or event you wish to change - then follow the prompts to either add, change, delete or create what is required.

Are my original image sizes altered when preparing and uploading to my gallery?
No. PixSmart reads your original files and creates web sized versions in a temporary folder on your computers hard drive. Your original images are not altered in any way.

How long am I locked into my hosting plan?
You're never locked in. You pay a monthly hosting fee for whatever plans suits. These are designed to provide cost effective choices to meet all budgets. You can elect to change from one plan to another at the end of any calendar month as your requirements dictate. Or you can cease paying the your monthly hosting and cease using your PixSmart Professional® software.

How much does PixSmart cost to purchase?
We don't sell you a copy of the software - you pay a license fee and monthly hosting fee to use it. All current fees are set out on our pricing page.

Can I trial before I buy PixSmart?
Due to PixSmart software requiring elements of customisation for each user, it's not offered on a free trial basis. We do however provide a hands on control panel and gallery demonstration from our demo site. Email your business name and contact phone number to Register Your Interest and we shall provide you with login details. You will then have full control over our demo site and you will see how the software works. We also provide a 30 day full money back satisfaction guarantee on the license fee you pay with your purchase. After purchasing a licensed version of PixSmart Professional®, if you are not satisfied with it, you have 30 days in which to let us know you do not wish to continue using PixSmart and have your license fee refunded to you in full.
